Between boundaries and belonging

This work comprises a series of multi-channel video documents which chronicle a journey through four socio-political entities that, from ideological and political standpoints, remain on the margins of recognition. Marked by polarized zones of influence, they exist in a condition of political limbo: not fully recognized yet physically present. Situated within an international landscape where acknowledgment is sporadic and often swayed by political motives, these states remain on the perimeter of global inclusion. Ideologically adrift, they navigate turbulent waters of geopolitical dynamics. Employing a semi-experimental and semi-fictional lens, this work examines the twisted interplay of politics within these unrecognized states. It probes the nuanced tension between national and ethnic identities, contextualizing them within the broader global arena, where the struggle for legitimacy and sovereignty is an ongoing and complex process.

 

This work gives rise to an interpretative process—a mosaic of interconnected realities of resistance—fabricated together through the transmission of unofficial narratives and histories. It serves as a reconnection after a rupture (mending what has been broken), rise after collapse (retracing what has been forgotten), and self-preservation after eradication (restoring what has been lost).
