Fragments II
What the map cuts up, the story cuts across
2020 - 2024
This work explores the histories of four states contending with incomplete recognition, highlighting their complex historical narratives. These regions persist in marginalization and stagnation, encountering obstacles in their quest for independence post-secession or in their ongoing struggle against settler colonialism. Situated within an international landscape where acknowledgment is sporadic and often swayed by political motives, these states remain on the perimeter of global inclusion. Ideologically adrift, they navigate turbulent waters of geopolitical dynamics. Employing a semi-experimental and semi-fictional lens, this work examines the twisted interplay of politics within these unrecognized territories. It probes the nuanced tension between national and ethnic identities, contextualizing them within the broader global arena, where the quest for legitimacy and sovereignty remains a complex spin.
