This project brings together six videos filmed in Abkhazia, Northern Cyprus, Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria, South Ossetia, and Kosovo, territories marked by contested, partial, or absent recognition. Filmed between 2015 and 2017, the works move through ruins, roads, crossings, and borderlands, tracing places where conflict remains embedded in the landscape and sovereignty persists as an unfinished condition. These films do not seek to stabilize or resolve the territories they move through. Instead, they remain with fragments: partial access, interrupted movement, improvised encounters, and stories carried through divided geographies. Rather than surveying unrecognized states, the project stays with how territorial division is lived, how history continues to press on the land, and how political uncertainty enters the structures of ordinary life. Taken together, the works move across different but connected terrains, where borders are never only lines of separation, but conditions through which memory, movement, and belonging are continuously shaped.
